Aug 19, 2021 · What Is a Part 15 Device? A Part 15 device is anything falling under the 47 CFR § 15.5. These are unlicensed devices that must comply with regulations to prevent their frequencies from interfering with other devices. There are myriads of devices falling under part 15 regulations, each with its own relevant guidelines to adhere to. The manufacturer may design the unit so that a broken antenna can be replaced by the user, but the use of a standard antenna jack or electrical connector is prohibited. This requirement does not apply to carrier current devices or to devices operated under the provisions of §§ 15.211, 15.213, 15.217, 15.219, 15.221, or § 15.236.47 CFR PART 15. October 1, 2018.
